To change things up, I thought I'd get festive and make something for Easter! Thankfully, my Mom is always prepared to make Rice Krispies treats, not to mention the endless supply of mini cadbury eggs, so I didn't have to go to the store for ingredients! Because Mini Cadbury eggs are one of my favorite Easter treats, of course I was going to find a way to use as many as I could get away with!
Seriously, I need to be in a mini-cadbury eggs recovery group...
Just make the Rice Krispies according to the box.
Stir until the marshmallows melt the butter...ymmmmm
Add Krispies while stirring...it gets a little sticky here :)
We added sprinkles to be festive.
ANNNDD of course I had to taste it for quality control!!!
Then, shape with your hands the nests and add the eggs! I put a little more purple sprinkles on the top for extra festiveness :)
We may have ended the session with frozen fingers, but it wasn't due to the lack of warmth between these two people. Since they booked over the phone, the Audubon Park was the first place we all actually got to meet. Right away I felt an ease with them, I loved Brittany's choice to wear a red dress (especially in March with everything not quite blooming and still frosted from winter) and I could tell they had so much respect for one another. When I asked them what they love about their relationship, they both said they appreciated the other's loyalty. We started off our session with a little something to keep them warm, my favorite, tea by the water.
After talking with these two over FaceTime I knew we had to make their session very natural and fun, as if I was witnessing a real date and just happen to get some photos along the way. If you are from anywhere near my hometown (and theirs) you probably know about Stauf's Coffee on Grandview Avenue. In school, this was a frequent spot for my couple and I thought it would make a great location for their time with me this week. Nostalgia always wins for me when it comes to location ideas. I am so glad Lauren & Andrew were able to make it to Columbus (from Chicago) for us to get a little practice in before the Spring!
It's not too often I get the request to capture cat families, but when Kristin & Harmon invited me to their home to start their session with their five (yes, five) kitties, I was in for the adventure. These two have a unique kind of love and style that makes them so much fun to hang out with. Anytime a couple is comfortable with each other, it makes my job so easy..they laugh like I'm not there and don't shy away from snuggling up in front of the camera. I was expecting the cats, but what I didn't know was Kristin had set up an whole studio for us to shoot in their basement-eccentric and very them..and it was perfect. The more you get into personalizing your session, the more comfortable you are and the more personal the images feel.
